3 Bad Blackjack Strategies

by bluxed on January 5, 2008

Bad Blackjack Strategy 1: Never Bust

This blackjack strategy is when a blackjack player never hits a hard 12 or more and hoping that the dealer will bust. This results in a house edge of 3.91%.

Bad Blackjack strategy 2: Mimic The Dealer

This blackjack strategy is when a blackjack player will always hit 16 or less and stand on 17 or more. The blackjack player as well as the dealer stood on soft 17. The blackjack player never doubled or split, since the dealer is not allowed to do so. This results in a house edge of 5.48%.

Bad Blackjack strategy 3: Assume Ten In The Hole

For this blackjack strategy I first figured out the optimal basic blackjack strategy under this assumption. If the dealer had an ace up I reverted to the proper basic blackjack strategy assumption of assuming the dealer did not have a ten. Then I went back and used this blackjack strategy under regular playing conditions. This results in a house edge of 10.03%.
